Boutique-Hotel Style Kitchen Marries Function and Glamour

When you start a family, you may feel like your home décor must change. Say goodbye to white carpets, valuable vases, oriental rugs, and any other treasured items that could be easily damaged.

And, while you may not want to display your most valuable items in a playroom, our motto of liveable glamour means we believe spaces can be beautiful and functional.

That’s what one of our clients, a family of four with a second home on the Gulf Coast, wanted too.

From a style perspective, they wanted their 3,000 square foot condo to feel like a waterfront boutique hotel.

One of the best aspects of a well-designed, boutique hotel is that it can make you feel like you are transported. We wanted to create this same pulse in this home, one that was energetic, bold, and artsy, yet not overwhelming.

And, the space needed to be practical for this family with two, young daughters. The kitchen was critical since this is a space where most families spend a significant amount of time.

To transform this kitchen, we chose a terrazzo tile for the backsplash that incorporated every color in the home’s palette.

The deep teal jewel tone island is a showstopper with modern blush barstools—all topped off with a brass light fixture that is pleasantly minimalist, which co-exists wonderfully with the amazing, brass, banana-leaf chandelier next to it in the dining room.

The family was impressed with the final result, saying “We wanted it [the home] to balance fun, energetic style while being practical and comfortable for our small family of four. We have two young daughters, but still wanted to walk in and feel surrounded by a beautiful space, and they were able to marry the two beautifully.”

This home was also featured in RUE Magazine and on homesandgardens.com where we shared a couple of innovative ways to keep the kitchen organized.
